Narin and Portnoo Golf Club is considered one of the finest natural and scenic18-hole links courses in Ireland, with sweeping views of Gweebarra Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Opened in 1930, it is an engagingly old-fashioned course, meandering over and around the dunes. Recently re-developed, the new par 73 layout offers challenges to suit all golfers. Such is the appeal of the course that visiting golfers return again and again and, due to its links terrain, it is ideal for year-round golf.
The Lake House Country Hotel, which is family owned and managed, offers superb hospitality and old-world charm in the peace and tranquillity of a rural setting, and within view of Narin and Portnoo Golf Club. An Irish welcome is ensured in warm and friendly surroundings, with open peat fires and good food. The hotel's stylish restaurant, which also offers a bar food menu, has for the past four consecutive years won the prestigious Dining Pub of the Year Award. Despite its peace and seclusion, The Lake House Country Hotel is only half an hour’s drive from Donegal Town and is within easy access of the airports of Donegal and Sligo.
The current winter/spring promotions, which hold good until the end of May 2010 The hotel can also be made available for mid-week bookings for 10 or more visitors. If bookings are made for 20 or more visitors for a minimum of 2 nights, the hotel will sponsor the first prize for your competition – this will be a weekend break for 2 at The Lake House Country Hotel.
