Glengesh Pass [Glen of the Swans]
Glengesh meaning “Glen of the Swans” is one of two glaciated valleys that sculpture the northern edge of the Banagh peninsula. Glengesh Pass is a high pass with an elevated window on Loughros Beg Bay, exquisitely framed between the steep sided Glengesh and Mulmosog mountains. The steeply plunging flank of Common Mountain (503m / 1,653ft) on the glen’s south side shows to advantage on the N56 approach road from Glenties.
